Philanthropy and Major Gifts Why Philanthropy? We have a simple formula; we provide a platform for every day Australians to connect through a regular laundry and shower service. The focus is on creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or who feel disconnected from the community, who we call “friends”. Our volunteers are not social workers or experts on homelessness – they are empathetic listeners and great conversationalists. For almost ten years, Orange Sky has been supporting those doing it tough with access to clean clothes, safe, hot showers and a safe space to connect with their community. By supporting Orange Sky with a philanthropic gift, you’ll not only provide practical laundry and shower services to friends across Australia, but also contribute to improved health outcomes and, most importantly, a place for connection and genuine conversation. Our mission is to positively connect communities and it’s important we are there for our friends to provide consistency, reassurance and connection. Why your gift matters The 2021 census found that 122,000 Australians are experiencing homelessness. That’s one in 200 people. Of the Australians experiencing homelessness, five percent are ‘sleeping rough’ and 95 percent are staying in shelters, boarding houses, temporary accommodation or severely crowded homes. We don’t have all the answers, but what we can provide is clean laundry, a warm shower and genuine conversation. You never know how a simple conversation might impact a person’s life. Your support could change a life. How you can help Metro and regional services We aim to provide a simple service that makes a huge difference for those doing it tough. Orange Sky supports people experiencing homelessness or hardship through access to free laundry and shower services, as well as the opportunity for regular connection. We provide a supportive, welcoming and inclusive space for anyone experiencing loneliness or disconnection from the community, with a focus on improving hygiene, health and quality of life. Your support of our metro and regional services ensures friends across Australia have access to clean clothes, warm showers and genuine conversations. Together, we’re making a positive impact in our communities, providing essential services where they are needed most. Remote services Since 2018, Orange Sky has supported remote communities with free laundry facilities, local employment, and partnerships. Our tailored services, managed by locals, ensure access to clean clothes and meaningful connections. Your support helps provide a safe space for people in remote regions of Australia to connect with their community. Innovation At Orange Sky, we are always exploring new and improved ways to help more people in the community doing it tough. From the Waru Dryer to Laundromats of the Future to School Laundry to Pick-Up and Drop-Off shifts, we are always imagining what the future of Orange Sky is going to look like.
