Cultural protocols

Being written, properly.

This page will describe the cultural safety principles that guide the platform: how elder review works, when community approval comes before publication, and what happens when cultural authority and a default setting disagree.

Why it is not here yet

Protocols are not ours to publish alone.

A page about cultural protocols has to clear the same bar the protocols themselves set: community review before publication. It is being written with the people whose authority it describes, and it will appear here when that review is done, not before. An honest empty page beats a premature one.

In the meantime: guidelines

The community guidelines already cover how to share stories with respect, including when to seek elder or community approval for cultural material.

How data is held: OCAP

The OCAP statement explains, in plain language, how ownership, control, access, and possession of your material work on this platform.
